Dorothy Ahlgren has produced film and video programming targeted to educational and commercial broadcast, cable television, and closed-viewing audiences. Prior to founding Atlantic Media in 1995, she served for seventeen years, first  as a Producer/Director and then as Director of Video Production in the Department of Media Services at the University of New Hampshire.

Among other projects during this time, she produced "Monitoring Our Planet," an educational documentary that was targeted to students and funded by NASA, NOAA and NSF for use in the international GLOBE Program. In conjunction with Alain Jehlen from WGBH-TV, she also produced "Forest Watch," a series of  environmental videos that were funded in a three-year, $1.2 million National Science Foundation grant that she co-wrote with Dr. Barrett Rock at he UNH Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans and Space.

Soon after founding Atlantic Media, she produced the company's  first  video for Measured Progress, an educational organization that works with state clients nationwide to provide customized, large scale assessments for K-12 students. Twelve years later, Measured Progress is still a major client of Atlantic Media. Currently, Dorothy is producing a feature-length documentary about the life of Nigerian drummer, Michael Babatunde Olatunji.
